And do we know that it is this combination — of knowing that we are bearers of Presence and choosing to honor Presence in one another — that holds the key to transformation in our lives and world?”\n— John Philip Newell \nMusic & Movement … Drumming & Chant … Listening & Silence …. embodiments of prayer allowing us to experience the sacred beat of life connecting us to ourselves\, to one another\, and to God. \nThis weekend retreat invites us to honor that sacred beat and go deeper into intention and prayer as we learn how to play – and pray – with drums\, chant\, the labyrinth and silence. \nLed by Katy Gaughan and Tracy Seffers\, the rhythm of our time together will include introduction to drumming\, group drumming as prayer\, chant\, walking the labyrinth with drums\, free time in nature\, a fire circle and rhythm church. Woven throughout the weekend will be times of silence. Drums provided or bring your own. \nKaty Gaughan is a drummer and drum circle facilitator whose mission is to bring people together to experience the healing power of drumming and rhythm. Katy facilitates group drumming experiences for wellness\, community building\, worship and celebration. \nTracy Seffers lives near Rolling Ridge. She learned drumming from Katy\, and was inspired to become a drum facilitator herself\, using it as means to build community and to teach mindfulness\, playful creativity\, cooperation\, and stress management. She leads monthly drum circles and has served on the Friends of Silence board. She has drummed for several retreats at Rolling Ridge and Still Point. \nThe retreat begins at 5 pm on Friday (dinner at 7) and concludes with lunch on Sunday (departure by 3 pm). \nFee for the retreat is $299 and includes lodging\, six meals\, and program. Two people registering together and choosing to share a room may pay a reduced fee of $249 each. Camping further reduces fee to $229. \nWe offer a limited amount of scholarships. Please inquire. \nThis retreat will take place at Rolling Ridge Study Retreat and Still Point Mountain Retreat\, within the 1400-acre wilderness preserve of Rolling Ridge\, between the Appalachian Trail and the beautiful Shenandoah River. Here you will find welcome and comfort in the simple and lovely cabins and breathtaking sacred spaces. Rolling Ridge is accessible by car only. We are located one hour and 40 minutes from Washington\, DC\, in the tip of West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle. Let the masculine and feminine dance within you\, to the beat of a live drum.\nThis workshop will begin with a 50 minute buti yoga practice\, which blends primal movement\, power yoga\, dance and strength training. This sequence which will be set to live drumming\, will challenge the physical body\, loosen patterns of holding\, and ignite new energetic patterns. You will experience a deep sense of connection with yourself and those practicing with you\, as well as begin to uncover your inherent freedom; mind\, body and spirit.\nIt will continue with a 35 minute Kundalini practice in which we will use the structure of kriya to fully embody our divine essence. This sequence is formulated to guide what we have uncovered and to increase our creative capacity.\nDuring the culmination of the workshop\, practitioners will be lead through a 20 minute yoga nidra\, to encourage deep relaxation and embodiment of the practice.
